Teamwork at Shakedown
Yesterday was day two of rigorous inspections at MIS. All of the teams were working hard to prepare to face this pass/fail portion of the competition. X Prize wants to be sure that all cars are safe and up to the challenge of being on track at June’s Knockout event and are willing to knock out cars at Shakedown if Read the full article…
Now that is a Monday!
This was the most stressful day of my life! I am battling noise in our electrical system. I wired our BMS again with I think i have a work around to keep us going. I am tired and need sleep thanks everyone for your support!
Name this component
This is an important but unglamorous part of Seven. Just about anyone can work with it. We had 4 people wearing it today. What is it?
Learning Curve…..
Being a part of this team since it’s inception, I can’t even begin to list the things I’ve learned. Hell, we’ve built a car from the ground up! I’ve learned some pretty incredible things over the last 2+ years. A pretty good percentage of it has been improvisation. We created some needs for some pretty specific and important parts, and Read the full article…
Happy Easter, from Team IMW
Our involvement in this competition has required we push beyond the boundaries of our comfort levels. We’ve learned a lot in the process and have grown as individuals while also growing closer as a team. While I knew that this would be a long, demanding endeavor, I don’t think I realized what a toll the long hours could have on Read the full article…
Ingenuity? Yeah, we got a bunch of that out in the wood shed.

Scores of designers and engineers in research and development, and budgets for such things that would stagger the imagination. We are but a handful of average Joes. Small in numbers, but innovative none the less. Ours is a personal quest. We have accomplished Read the full article…
By the Grace of… the State
It may seem a bit odd to title this blog as I have, however the title encompasses many things that have come together just in time for us during our build so at different times it would be named slightly different: by the grace of Hyundai, by the grace of EV components, by the grace of Capitol City Tool and Read the full article…
An alternate point of view…
The following entry is authored by my lovely wife Dustie. Her continued support for my being a part of this endeavor is greatly appreciated and needed. The time is nearing and the pressure is on. I visit the shop and see worn faces, fiberglass-glue-covered bodies and one sexy “Seven” coming together. I’m not sure this is what I envisioned crunch Read the full article…
Another Part of the Adventure (or, In Which I Wish I Could Go Back to School)
One of the requirements for the upcoming events at the Michigan International Speedway is that anyone driving the car on the track have already completed a one-day high performance driving school. We had hoped that the teams would receive instruction as part of the spring Shakedown event, but it turns out the teams are on their own to get certification. Read the full article…
Letter to The Team
About a year ago I first heard from Sean, a US native who is currently in Japan. A couple weeks ago he made a donation to our team and wrote us a letter to catch up, which is included along with my response in this post. Dear IMW guys, Wow! Seven is looking good! I originally wrote to you nearly Read the full article…
